I got something of a surprise today when I came to work and caught up with what was happening.

Andrew's gone.

He left on Sunday....he's in Mackay for two weeks, and then he's off to Cunnamulla or Cloncurry in the country to take up his teaching position.

Ladies and Gentlemen, meet my latest great regret. I wish that I'd spoken to him before he left.....apologised for what happened or wished him luck. But no.....this matter is going to have no closure. I hate that. I'll probably never see Andrew again, or at least not for a long time.

Aside from that, I guess things are ok. I have an English lit essay to write this weekend on an Australian poem and that's about it. Steven is coming up to stay the next weekend, and we're going to see Down with Love together and there's also an art exhibition that I'd like to take him to over at Southbank.

I hope this week's a better one than the last. It was a lousy week for Steven, at least.

I have to admit, though....I find it very unfair that his beliefs are the ones being criticised. Isn't he allowed to be a monarchist without being picked upon by every second person? Steven pointed out that no one dares criticise a person with socialist/Marxist values when they speak up. Now, at the risk of sounding silly and uncultured, I think he has a point. And that saddens me quite a bit. God, whatever happened to democracy? Everyone is entitled to have an opinion.

What else.....oh yeah, today was the day of Assumption, so I toddled off to mass. Got into a debate about imperfections on icons with this solicitor next to me. Tried to remain diplomatic to this ultra-conservative old man next to me when he ranted about homosexuals in the Catholic church.

Bah, I'm sick of seeing the church keep the old views like this. And what's really sad is that it's going to be a never-ending circle. The same sort of men are going to continue to be elected into the high-ranking positions in the church. All the time.

Christ, I hope there's some sliver of truth to the prophecies of St. Malachy. He predicted two more Popes and then the world was going to end as we know it, or something to that effect. I'm hoping that actually means there's going to be a complete change. Provided these prophecies are true, of course.

But I'm rambling now.

Caroline, um....regarding Rome. Dad thinks something could be arranged, so if you want to contact me, you know my s/n and all that.
