The heard word is lost, the written letter remains...
Very little of note to report, dear readers. I joined with the Greek reading group this week, and immediately I've been thrown into the deep end of the pool. My very basic knowledge of Koine Greek vocab and grammar barely gets me through the likes of Homer and Aelian, though I'm obviously faring better on the New Testament- we did the Lukan nativity narrative on Monday and I was rather surprised by how well I could follow it, though my knowledge of the narrative in English has a lot to do with it, I expect. Got some textbooks on Attic/Koine Greek grammar yesterday though, so I'll be studying those over the weekend so I don't sit there like a stunned mullet next week. We're doing the Attic Greek translation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone next Monday, which will be a lot of fun! I'm going to go back to my Latin practice over summer too, and continue translating Augustine's letters.

I had brunch with Rick and Bec (his other honours student) yesterday. Post-honours, everyone's asking me about the dreaded PhD. Not two weeks after graduating and I'm getting quizzed on my next move- Rick said I could start it whenever I wanted though, which was nice. Taking out another three years to do a PhD is a very daunting prospect right now, and I'm quite enjoying having no academic obligations at the moment, the Greek reading group aside.

Christmas shopping coming along slowly, due to work and assorted other things. A second Coaldrake's bookshop has opened up in Paddington in the new Barracks complex, so I'm quite excited to have a look there over the weekend. There's a new second-hand bookshop in Paddington as well, so I will investigate there too.

Now, to watch a bit of The Tudors. I've already seen series two, but it's rather nice to watch it on a screen bigger than that of my PC.
