Dirt/further tv rambling (aka: yes, this post is worthy of a new icon)
I won't deny it: the only reason I am remotely interested in watching Dirt is Ian Hart. And he doesn't disappoint.

The problem is that the scenes featuring his character are so interesting that everything just sort of pales in comparison. The writers must have a lot of fun writing Don and envisioning his schizophrenic hallucinations. One would almost think that the part was tailor-made for teh Ian, he's that good. And I think that maybe it's to the detriment of the other plots going on.

I suppose the show's supposed to be OMGSCANDALOUS because of the sex scenes and the drug taking and that Courtney Cox takes a stun gun to her one night stand on the morning after. But it's not, really. I kinda like that everything went pear-shaped in a rather spectacular way on the Holt character, but it still felt a bit dull.

I'll still keep watching. But just for Ian, because I like to support his acting career and he has never put a foot wrong yet, even if he has to work with crappy material.

I know that television in summer is supposed to be crappy stuff that no-one watches, but there is a slew of good stuff on/coming up at the moment! Have discovered that the two-part adaptation of Terry Pratchett's Hogfather is screening over Sunday and Monday night. I'm looking forward to seeing it, largely because it's one of Ian Richardson's last performances (ironically, he voices Death) and because I'm keen to see it before the next Discworld adaptation that's coming out next year (with Christopher Lee taking over the reins and voicing Death like he did in the cartoon. YUS!). The catch is that I'm serving two masses on Christmas Eve, so I'll miss part two and I won't be able to watch it on Christmas day because I'm leaving straight after morning mass up to the Sunshine Coast for a a few days holiday. So I might just download it instead.

I'm glad to be going to the beach (go on Christmas Day, come back on NYE), but also annoyed because I won't be here to see Voyage of the Damned immediately (my internet access will definitely not extend to torrenting large video files, sigh). I EXPECT SPOILER CUTS, PEOPLE. And no hating on Kylie plz.
