The heard word is lost, the written letter remains...
From the weekend Melbourne Age
"I invented Dan Brown. He's one of the grotesque characters in my novel who take a lot of trash occult material seriously. He used a lot of the material I myself quoted."

~ Umberto Eco

Ladies and gentlemen, bow down to the master. Because Eco's writing is far superior to anything Dan Brown's ever written. You want a good mystery filled with hidden symbolism and meaning? Skip Dan Brown and read Eco's 'Foucault's Pendulum' or 'The Name of the Rose' instead. It's far more rewarding.

Yes! Every time I read Foucault's Pendulum, I imagine Dan Brown slogging through it, totally not getting the joke. "It's about a bunch of people who publish conspiracy theories at a vanity press and then some other people who start coming up with conspiracy theories that eventually kill them all. YES! Just like meeeeeee!!!"
