Maaaaaaan, this was worth the wait. I liked this episode a lot. The anachronisms are still incredibly silly, but it was much more fun than the last ep. The participation of the all the Merry Men was great.
Not much else to add. Time for eye candy!
Djaq lures unsuspecting bloke away from his money chest so that the merry men can nick it. See, I would've thought that a Saracen woman in Locksley would've appeared rather WTF? to most of the locals. Obviously not.
Marian is clearly unimpressed at having the Sheriff's suggestion to cuddle up to Count Friedrich. I've got to say that while some of the costumes in this show really make me facepalm, I really like this green dress. I don't care that it's not authentically medieval, it's just pretty.
In addition to being a wealthy Bavarian aristocrat, Count Friedrich also appears to be a time traveller from an era that vaguely resembles the Renaissance/1700s. This is one of those moments where I just have to facepalm at wardrobe again. *FACEPALM* Still, what a fabulous entrance! *snicker*
Love how Gisborne is all protective like over Marian. What a pimp.
Friedrich is very chivalrous to Marian. Like I said: hate the facial hair, but Mr Fletcher is still incredibly lovely. Love his hair. The grey in it suits him very nicely (I suspect I'm the only one who finds him much more attractive now than in his Press Gang days).
Friedrich indulges in innuendo-laden flirting with Marian. That waitress? WHAT THE HELL? She looks like an extra from Wild Wild West!
Gaaaah. Yeah, that's all I've got. *loves the hand kissing*
Marian gets cornered by some lascivious guards. And then Friedrich totally comes and kicks their asses!
While Marian listens in on the Sheriff and Gisborne talking about their Cunning Plan, Friedrich is silly....
...and still desperately trying to get under Marian's skirts.
"Do you people really think I'm a complete idiot?"
"Yes! Until now, which is exactly what you wanted, isn't it?"
Well, that settles it! COUNT FRIEDRICH = MEDIEVAL SIR PERCY BLAKENEY. No, really! Fop by day, ass-kicker by night. I can totally buy that.
Friedrich and Marian go for a romantic horseback ride through the woods/go to secretly meet with Robin to plan to thwart the Sheriff. Friedrich appears to have gotten his riding attire from the 1700s. Marian looks like a French revolutionary. Clearly, this is Medieval England.
To maintain the ruse Friedrich gives Marian a great huge snog in the courtyard of Nottingham Castle. Yep, definitely a Pimpernel in the making.
Marian is immune to the count's charms, though I think that Lucy Griffiths has far more cheimstry in this one episode with Dexter Fletcher than she has with Jonas Armstrong in all the episodes so far.
In other news, Djaq has boobs. Who knew? She's undercover as a waitress.
Friedrich dons Medieval black tie for the gambling night, while Marian shows off her cleavage. 'Booby and the Beast' really was an appropriate title for this episode.
Much realizes that Djaq has boobs, and seems to like what he sees....
...as does Will...
Friedrich and Marian proceed to get close over the dice table. Friedrich playing the dice like that reminds me of Sir Percy playing against La Touraine in the Kidnapped King.
Friedrich helps smuggle away the money from the strong room, and bids farewell to Marian. Dammit, not another kiss? I totally would've, but you probably all know that by this point. -_-;
Friedrich then takes Stephen onboard to take him to safety, and bids farewell to Robin. And he leaves his gambling money for Robin to distribute. Seriously, what an awesome guy.
And now, back to work. *sigh*
