The Virgin Queen part two
All in all, an excellent miniseries. Wholly impressed by Anne Marie Duff as Elizabeth I, and obviously with teh Ian. I really appreciated his performance as Cecil in this part particularly, as I genuinely believed his close relationship to the Queen. If it comes out on dvd here, I'm definitely getting it.

In other news, I narrowly avoided being spoiled for the end of Deathly Hallows this morning while reading the paper. MEDIA, STOP MAKING WITH THE SPOILERS! I don't want to have to cut newspapers out of my routine.

How is it that there are spoilers for this book anyway? Security surrounding the last two books in particular was airtight, and yet there seems to be leaked online copies everywhere this time around. What gives?

Current Mood: sleepy sleepy

JKR and Bloomsbury are saying that the spoilers are all fake, and the ones appearing online are all different from each other, so you can rest easy, knowing that the only way of being spoiled is by reading the book itself.

I am so doing the midnight thing in my local shopping centre, and hopefully snagging a bargain in the process. ;-)

(creeps in with hands over hears going LALALALALA)

Barely avoided getting spoiled by especially loud patrons at a restaurant I was at last night...

Deathly Hallows was shipped to bookstores last Friday, I've heard. Out of the hundreds of thousands of bookstores in America, or the UK, at least one of them must have one weak-willed employee, and one's all it takes.

What annoys me is that newspapers are telling spoilers! It's like What?! You can't...that's just not cool!

My impression - although I'm so far removed from the series that I've got no idea for sure - is that a lot of people are taking their best guesses about what might happen and then claiming that they've seen a leaked copy or whatever. As I understand it, there are X plot points that people have decided are crucial to the story, and then a number of ways in which those points could be resolved. If one of the guesses turns out to be accurate, then there you go.
As for why the media's doing it, it might be because this is a pretty major event in literary terms. Unfortunately for the media, there's not much that can be said about this book for sure until it's released, so they have to find material where they can.
