More Elizabethan TV
The first part of The Virgin Queen was on Showtime tonight, and I have to say that I quite enjoyed it. Not quite historically accurate (I'm no expert on the Tudors, but a few David Starkey docos told me that some things were not quite right), but I could look past that. Despite having not yet seen part two, I am liking it much more than the ITV Elizabeth I mini-series that was shown last year (I loved Helen Mirren and Jeremy Irons' individual performances, but the rest was kind of meh).

It felt quite music video-ish in places, with the camera angles and scenes like Elizabeth running about in the fields. I loved the music and the use of it as well (was a soundtrack put out for this at all?). Reminded me quite a bit of Sophia Coppola's Marie Antoinette in that aspect. Anne-Marie Duff is quite good as Elizabeth, and I would hope to see her in more roles like this in the future since I liked her so much in Shameless too.

And of course, there was all the eye candy. dives, you were right. Dexter was quite gorgeous (and this is from someone who positively hates facial hair on guys); as was Ian, who still has absolutely lovely eyes and pwns many with his acting ability.

Current Mood: grateful grateful

The hair.

so beautiful.

...anyway, yep, there is a soundtrack. I remember last year when it aired here I scoured the internet for a month trying to find it, and then the BBC had it on their website but I couldn't buy it, because BBC America's website didn't have it, and apparently I couldn't buy from the BBC's website without being in the UK???

I still really want it.

The Hair is indeed at its lovliest. Can't wait for part two next Tuesday night!

I went scouring on eMule just before in the hopes of finding the soundtrack, and it's available in a zip file with two sources. It's downloading right now, so if all goes to plan, I'll try and see if I can upload it for you when I get home from work. It's about 60 MB, so it's not too big a file.

Update: it's nearly done, but the sources seem to have gone for the night. Hopefully it will not be one of those downloads that can't be completed because the sources mysteriously go and don't come back. -_-;
