The heard word is lost, the written letter remains...
Ok, it's definitely not meant to be this hot in October. The weather reports are saying it's going to be 37 degrees tomorrow. o_O Thus, it's been decided that the household would rather be cold than hot, so I'm freezing here in the air condidtioned study contriving to work on my original-fic-that-could-be-a-novel.

Besides it being hot, there's been diddly squat rain. The city council put in water restrictions this week, and yesterday afternoon there were bushfires in one of the nearby suburbs. Watching houses being perilously close to large roaring flames really makes me remember how materialistic I am, and just how much crap I would want to bring with me if I had to evacuate. Books, computer, keepsakes, random bits and pieces...

But seriously. There had better not be any bushfires around here until at least December. Because my house burning down might mean that I'd have to miss Latin at uni. And that would, of course, be the sign of the apocalypse beginning, not to mention really make me hard-pressed to catch up.

No paid account at the moment. But I've sent off money to renew it, aaaand.....for one of those 100 icon things. There's something about having one hundred lj icons that makes me pathetically excited. Perhaps I'll make some tonight in preparation. *opens Photoshop*

Also, watched Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves today, which I hadn't seen for a while and happened to be on cable. That film would be absolute tripe if it wasn't for Alan Rickman and his depraved tantrum-throwing Sheriff. Hee!

Also, I continue to fail to see what it is exactly that makes Sean Connery so desireable to women. Honestly, what is it? Can someone enlighten me?

And finally, I did my Nostradamus presentation yesterday. And managed to talk for *gasp* fifteen minutes! I'm particularly proud of my end strategy, which was to pick a random quatrain of his and ask the class to tell me what they thought it meant.

This was the one I chose:

The rose upon the middle of the great world,
For new deeds public shedding of blood:
To speak the truth, one will have a closed mouth,
Then at the time of need the awaited one will come late.

~Century V: 96

I found the popular consensus was that it had to do with the Soviet Union and the downfall of communism. As to who the awaited one was....there wasn't a certain answer for that, but I thought it could've been referring to Ronald Reagan or Pope John Paul II, who both opened up dialogue with communist leaders.

Current Mood: cold cold

Once my friends and I sat through the entirety of Prince of Thieves merely to giggle at the end. You know, the bit where Nottingham's like "I DO, WHATEVER, LET'S HAVE SEX".

Man, what a horrible movie.
