Now, I actually have a legitimate excuse for not updating this time. I'm working for dad at his textbook shop in Brackenridge. Next week classes begin at the TAFE there, and dad wanted my sister and I there to help him during the student rush. It requires early mornings, and the two days I was there last week there was little to do, but I am earning money, which is good.

Also, I went out on Saturday and saw two movies, Elektra and Closer. I wasn't expecting much out of Elektra, and it was kind of disappointing for a comic book adaptation. Perhaps my view is too tainted by how great Spider-Man translated onto the big screen, but I guess Elektra was a little too gloomy for my liking and there wasn't enough of what could best be described as 'comic moments', that is to say, moments where you could imagine the shots onscreen translating into comic book imagery. Plus, it doesn't help Jason Isaacs got killed off in the first ten minutes. ;p At least Terence Stamp lent some dignity to the film.

Closer was slightly better, if a little depressing to watch, with its storyline of four people deceiving each other again and again. Natalie Portman and Clive Owen were amazing to watch on screen. Having not seen a number of their fellow nominees though, I have no-one to compare them with at the moment, but their performances were scene-stealing, if not Oscar-worthy.

I'm watching Hell Has Harbour Views at the moment on ABC. It's not really that gripping, but Peter O'Brien's in it so I watch. One thing coming up on the ABC however, that I think no one should miss is the documentary 'Outfoxed', on Tuesday night 9:30. I saw it last year in my Language in the Media course and it was a great behind the scenes look at the Foxs News network and its amazingly biased views and propaganda. Admittedly, I did watch the film in revulsion at some of the blatant pro-republicanism going on (a particular segment on the journalist commentator Bill O'Reilly I watched in amazement at his appalling on-air behaviour towards interviewees who he disagreed with), but it's definitely worth seeing.

I edited my user info a couple of days ago, and it's looking rather....well, boring for lack of a better word. I should do something about it, but seeing as I'll be working every day this week, I don't like my chances. :-/ Ah, well.

*looks at calendar* Wow, Lent is in a week and a half. Should think probably think about setting up my Lenten layout again, starring the gorgeous priest icons I made last year. ^^;
