Jennifer Garner playing Miss Marple, lolwut

Not exactly sold on this. In theory it sounds like a Sherlock-style remake where everyone's a bit younger and sexier. The overwhelming reaction in my head is 'Meh', just because I don't trust an American production to play as well as a British one would.

/two cents

Also, Possibly my new favourite blog: Bad Vestments. It's kind of like Go Fug Yourself, but for clergy!

Current Mood: surprised surprised

I feel like the problem with remaking this, as opposed to Sherlock, is that the entire point of Miss Marple is that she is a little old lady and therefore everyone ignores her (as opposed to, you know, a young sexy headturning lady who's also A GENIUS DETECTIVE U JEALOUS).

I honestly thought it was a parody at first (hey, why not cast a Victoria's Secret model instead? Why not have be ex-CIA? Why not have a couple of explosions, and maybe a sexy love interest? etc).

This is exactly my problem with this remake- I think the only way they could spin it is making it about a young Marple learning to be a sleuth, and I think that would still fail because it still negates what makes Marple unique as far as detectives go.

Or if it's not done like BBC!Sherlock, there's a good chance it could turn out like Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes, where the period setting stays the same but the character takes more levels in badass (though to be fair, Sherlock Holmes was pretty badass to begin with) and yes, they include a sexy love interest and have to run from explosions/gunshots/baddies.

...TL;DR, right? I'm just going to go back to my Mrs Bradley Mysteries DVD and pretend this remake doesn't exist.

(Incidentally, this got me wondering about Poirot, and which sexy actor a Hollywood studio would cast if there was a remake like this. :/)
