Somehow, 'Oh noes!' doesn't even begin to cover it....
It is really storming outside tonight.

Honestly, there's been continuous lightning since 6:30 this evening. And about half an hour ago, the thunder got really loud and the rain began coming down in buckets. But seriously, there was just this one thunder clap ten minutes ago that made me jump out of my skin, and sent Smokey jumping on my lap as though it were some sort of bomb shelter. The power went out for a minute too, which annoyed me to no end because I was in the middle of typing up something in notepad.

'I, Robot' really wasn't a book I should've read during the summer break, when my brain is looking for more lighthearted, pointless matter to mull over during summer. Asimov's thoughts on robotics and the ethics that surround it can probably be read just as well today as they could be in 1950. I wish I could say something more profound about the book than that, but I will also say that I enjoyed it and wouldn't mind reading more of his short stories.

Next on the reading agenda is Umberto Eco's 'The Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana'. The title alone screams 'read me!', and as someone interested in semiotics, he appeals to me a lot as an author and academic. His books are rich in description and symbolism, and I enjoy that element very much. And given that this is an illustrated novel, I should probably enjoy it even moreso!

Anyway, I suppose I had better shut down the computer before a power outage does it for me.
